My father, a Puerto Rican from the Bronx, New York passed away in December at 89 years old. While I don’t want to share too much details about his life, one thing he truly enjoyed besides music, audio equipment and art was loading up his film camera, usually a Canon - and heading outside to capture his subjects on the street or in nature.
After his passing - I found myself going through his archives and learning more about who he was through his subjects. Through his photos, I got to witness the many versions of himself that exisited in that time - what captivated him, and where he’d hang out in his free time. Many of the photos matches his stories that he’d shared with me during our tea time, whether it was hanging out in Coney Island, Orchard Beach or capturing the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Central Park.
This blog is a dedication to his life’s work, a hobby he enjoyed so much - and an artist’s eye that deserves a digital altar of its' own distinction.
